How to use universal glue

1. Before use, the surface of the adherend should be properly treated, such as degreasing, rust removal, moisture removal, and surface dust removal. Degreasing and decontamination can be done by scrubbing with No. 120 gasoline, ethyl acetate or other quick-drying solvents and drying. For polishing, generally use No. 0 or No. 1 sandpaper to gently polish.

2. When bonding plywood, flooring, bamboo board or other wooden products, the moisture content of the adherend must be below 8%. If it is higher than 8%, the adherend should be dried in the sun or oven before use.

3. Generally, one coat of glue is enough. In order to prevent air holes from being left in the glue layer, the glue should be applied in one direction and at a fast speed to facilitate the discharge of air and improve the bonding quality.

4. Generally, the thinner the glue layer, the fewer defects, the smaller the shrinkage, and the higher the bonding strength. The glue layer should be thinner rather than thicker. Thickness can easily cause incomplete drying, poor adhesion, and blistering. Therefore, under the premise of ensuring that there is no lack of glue, the glue layer should be as thin as possible. Generally, the thickness of the glue layer should be controlled at 0.08-0.15mm, that is, the total amount of glue is 200-300g/㎡.

5. After applying the glue, it must be left to air. The purpose of airing is to allow the solvent to evaporate cleanly, increase viscosity, and promote curing. Do not overlap immediately to avoid stickiness or bubbles in the glue layer, which will lead to a decrease in bonding quality. The airing time is 20-25 minutes in winter and 5-15 minutes in summer. When the glue layer is in a dry film state, it should be bonded immediately. The airing time should not be too long to avoid the glue layer losing its viscosity and affecting the bonding strength.

6. The universal glue has strong adhesion, so you must choose the right time when bonding. Align the position at one time, and do not move back and forth. After bonding, press, hammer or roll appropriately to drive away the air, compact the glue layer, and improve the viscosity quality.

7. Although the strength of the universal glue is established quickly, it takes 3-5 days to reach the maximum strength. Therefore, joints with high bearing capacity should be left for a sufficient period of time before use.
